I have used this software for 20 years, or at least it seems like 20 years, and the exquisite care the Panic team take with their apps is still shining through.

I would be fine with paying the subscription price if they would spend more effort in QA testing it. I’m still seeing encoding issues when uploading files with accented chars (utf-8) from mac os.
It’s true, I was there since the beginning…or kind of close to it. I’ve worked as a freelance art director for many years and Transmit 5 is the only go-to for uploading digital assets, proofs, final files, video masters, etc. to my clients.
While the app is OK, it is advertised as free. Is not. You have 7 days trial and need to sign up for subscription. This is misleading and illegal!
Would be great except it doesn't allow just buying the app outright. You're forced to subscribe. Lame money grab tactic
just use that
I have not had a use for Transmit for years - but I remembered it from the early 2000’s when it ran on my Mac Pro G5 tower and made it easy to connect to FTP and other ancient protocols. I recently had the need to connect to S3 buckets, and sure enough, Transmit is still alive and kicking. I downloaded and paid for a subscription and was quickly able to navigate the notoriously (in my opinion) weird AWS file store. I’m not allergic to command line tools - but this makes it so much easier even for an old Unix guy who has vi muscle memory to spare.
please stop asking for reviews every few days
Does everything you need and "just works".
Back in the '90s and early 2000s, anyone who worked on the internet needed an FTP utility. They were usually free, or very inexpensive shareware. Then along came various services like Dropbox with their own uploaders, and along came social media, and an FTP utility was less needed. Sometimes, though, I still need to upload a large file to a directory on one of my domains. And every year, this app auto-renews and I realize "I'm paying a large sum every year for this FTP, might as well use it." Then I open the app and I can never log into my site. It just doesn't seem to save my password, or doesn't like the one I use. And I end up having to log into my web-hosting service to look up my FTP settings and my password (and those are always hard to find). By the time I've done all that, I figure I might as well upload my file using the File Manager inside my web-hosting service. So I don't use Transmit after all that hassle. If you manage sites where you need to upload files to various directories every day, this subscription-based app might be ideal for you. If you only need to use this once or twice a year like I do, maybe not.
I’ve used Transmit since the Clinton administration. Zero notes. None. This is Mac’s finest app.
Easy to use. Great UI. Definitely one of the faster clients that I've used on Mac.
Simply and fast. The Best.
works great. no issues.
Like all Panic software, Transmit is just enough and never too much. Clearly written by developers for developers.
Straightforward app and gets the job done. Love the "droplet" feature.
I remember paying $40 or something for this app and now when I restore purchases it says nothing found. And they want $40 a year .. Ridiculous.
Transmit was my favorite FTP client, but now they went subscription. Only $25/year! Not EVERYTHING needs to be a subscription. Certainly not an FTP client. Give me a one-time fee for basic functionality and feel free to charge some fee for more bells and whistles, but as it stands I'll go elsewhere.
I've been using it forever and it's one of the few apps I don't mind paying a subscription to use - it's rock solid and perfect for my workflow.
I got succerd into an annual renewal while attempting to cancel and remove app from my machine. It automatically charged my CC account without a new authorization or review. Now its a pain to try to cancel the billing.....
Long time Transmit 4 user, generally works great with a few annoyances that are improved in Transmit 5. That being said, I've now had to go back to Transmit 4 due to issues uploading a large number of files (2,000 ) to S3 and downloading folders to most locations on my computer (individual files work fine). Basically I get a lot of "could not open local file" errors but I know it isn't a permission issue since quitting an reopening/connecting resolves it for a short time. Unfortunately I have contacted Panic twice now via email with no response so am leaving this review in the hope that it might get some reply. Have always loved the product but at this point Transmit 5 is unusable for me so I will go back to Transmit 4 with its minor but very usable annoyances.
I've been using Transmit for over a decade. Best FTP/SFTP app on the market, bar none.
Just like others, and rightfully so, I'm beyond fed up with subscription software. It's so very dissapointing to see Panic is now subscription based. This modern model of passively plucking money from peoples' wallets is out of control. From Apple apps, to heated seat features in automobiles, to Panic, etc., enough of this nonsense.
In order to free-trial the app (which I just wanted to do so I could see what the account setup options were to help someone else who is using it paid), I had to subscribe. (And now have to remember to figure out how to unsubscribe when I'm done helping them) And the first thing I get after subscribing is something asking for my review?! Nope.
This is the app that I use to connect to files on a remote server.
Best App foe ever
f*** this app.
For network devices, I most often use SCP. I wish this app could be my "all-in-one" tool for file transfers.
The only bad thing I could say about Transmit is that it is subscription based. Would give it 5 stars otherwise.
This is a pretty good client overall, but recent versions have weird bugs that make it almost completely useless. One example is that this device has been given access to all my folders as well as giving "Full Disk Access", yet it still thinks that it doesn't have access to my documents folder. Every other app that I use can write to this folder fine, including myself via terminal or finder. Randomly not being able to view files in and/or write files to any directories in my home directory really leaves the app useless.
Wish it didn't need a hefty subscription for something i don't use often, but it supports my needs. Logged in to the FTP I need with no problem!
Not a bad app but what a weird subscription model, don't know who these developers are trying to impress but maybe just sell your program next time.
The APP always shut down when I transmit files
I have LOVED Transmit for years. I paid for it once. I made the mistake of updating the app, and now it tells me I need to pay a yearly subscription! Why?! My love for this tool has now turned to hate, and now I have to go find another tool, and spend hours trying to see if I can migrate all of my hosts. What a disappointment.
Solid app. Been my go-to for years for SFTP, S3, WebDav, etc.
stop the feedback prompt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
claims a FREE 7-day trial, but needs a credit card for said FREE trial. That's not free. That's hoping I won't remember to cancel.
This app is not free. It's free for 7 days and is then $24.99 per year. To proceed with the free trial you have to sign up and agree to start automatically paying when the 7 days is up. Why doesn't just stop working after 7 days and then tell that you need to pay? For the obvious reason. Instant uninstall.
Panic (developers of Transmit) are the best! I've used Transmit for years for my websites. Simple, inutuitve, pretty, it's macOS through and through. Use this software if you want to feel better about your life :)
Sorry, used before worked fine. Butnow does not have local files on left side and will not connect to server or host. Please help.
I've been using Transmit to up and download files since 2011 or so. This new version, with a subscription, is one more added expense per year, but. I found Transmit just works. No need to go looking for an alternative FTP client. I highly recommend this product as a long-time user. -- Donald J. Claxton | The Timberlander
I have used this app for years. In my opinion, It works quite well.
I've used this app for years. It's fast, stable, and does everythinig you need it to do with ease and clarity.
I have made Transmit my only FTP solution since vestion 1.0. Easy and stright to the point.
While I am not thrilled with the new subscription model that software has adopted, I do understand that development takes a lot of time and commitment. I am a developer myself, and so have found that most people want perfection for nothing. That being said, this ftp program is not perfect. However, the support on it has been stellar. Getting responses from the developer has made the yearly subscription price well worth it. I will stick with this program as long as they are willing to support it.
Definitely worth the investment, great app for connecting to web servers and managing FTP connections. Saves me tons of time and the UI is super intuitive.
This message keeps appearing when I try upload a file larger than 1 MB, so only its thumbnail uploads. My research shows that Transmit ran out of disk space—so do I need to purchase more space in an upgraded subscription? I would appreciate knowing what these cryptic messages mean and how to resolve them.
I like this FTP prograns it does what I need to do
multiyear subscriber. software developer. web/mobile/games/ml. transmit is great for all those workflows in enterprise startup environments.
